On going independent.

A short note, to friends, and to the clients who have become friends.

As of this spring, I am working on my own. The practice carries my name now, and operates independently, affiliated with Sotheby's International Realty here in wine country.

I owe a great deal to Arthur Goodrich. I approach this new chapter with gratitude and our friendship intact.

The decision came down to timing, and to wanting to run the whole of the work myself. I had reached a point where I wanted to be responsible for every part of an engagement, the parts that go smoothly and the parts that are hard, with my name on all of it. The relationships I have built over these years were already mine to look after. It felt like the right moment for the name on the door to match the work.

For the people I already work with, little changes and everything continues. The same attention, the same person answering the phone. What changes is that the practice is now organized entirely around how I work best: a small number of owners and families at a time, each property approached on its own terms.
